Welcome to our Guepel Ling website, a Dharma house in Auvergne,
"Les amis de Croizet" Association.
Programme 2010:
Summer course
From Monday, August 2nd to Saturday, August 14th.
This year's summer course will follow The Gylawa Karmapa's instructions. He wishes us to study the "51 mental factors" in order to better understand the mind and the work on the emotions. These 51 factors are a short list of the different aspects of our mind which are part of the different moments of experience in our lives, whether in a neutral, beneficial or non beneficial way. We are going to study and work on them from the angle of the 4 establishments of the full conscience that we have been studying over the last years.
So as to place these 51 factors in their right context, Lama Lhundrup will give us an introduction to the five aggregates of our existence (forms-sensations-distinctions-mental factors-consciences) through guided meditation sessions every morning. We will have recent translations in French by L. Tenzin, in German by D. Heiko and L. Lhundrup and a slightly re-worked English version by Eric Pema Kunzang at our disposal.
Then, in the afternoons, it will possible for the notions taughts in the morning to be integrated through exchanges in small groups, through individual meditation sessions.

How to best use the services offered at Guepel Ling
Guepel Ling's profile :
Founded in 1998 our association welcomes lay buddhists as well as others involved in a spiritual quest. The centre is directed by lamas from the monasteries of Le Bost and Laussedat and is under the spiritual authority of the 17th Karmarpa Thaye Dorje. The centre’s goal is to enable single people, couples and families to enter into Buddhist practice through study and meditation. To this end a small temple, a lounge, an interview room for lamas, a children’s room and a dining room have all been created.
Gendun Rimpoche wished this centre to become a place of meeting between the lay community of the surrounding area with their children and members of the Sangha. He also explained the five lay vows that should be respected:
To respect the life of all beings.
To respect other people’s belongings.
To practise right speech.
To respect existing relationships.
Not to use intoxicants.
At Croizet we are able to share a pleasant, open and relaxed atmosphere thanks to the Dharma. The teachings given here are exactly the same as those given at the monastery but we emphasize the direct exchange between the teachers and participants. Among other things the centre wishes to make the practices of Chenrezig and Lojong known
Other activities which could be brought about in the future in harmony with the Dharma are sculpture, music, games and the study of languages. Open days, workshops and exhibitions will enable the Buddhist community to successfully integrate into the Combrailles. We have a small lending library and a Summer fete, open to all, is organized in August.
It is a non-profit association (according to the 1901 French Law) aiming at offering the possibility to those who may wish so to practise, study and experiment the Dharma in a simple and lay way. It is possible to attend courses there, given by the teachers connected with Kundreul Ling and therefore with Karmapa Trinle Thaye Dordje, the master at the head of the Karma Kagyu lineage. It is also possible to do semi-retreats , study seminars and so forth there.
Who may use this place ?
Anyone or any group member of the association. For that, you are only requested to enroll and offer a donation, the amount of which being left to your discretion.
- Those who attend the courses and the activities offered by the association (according to room or bed availability).
- Those who wish to attend teachings or other events taking place at Kundreul Ling (Le Bost and Laussedat monasteries). You may be accommodated at Guepel Ling for it is possible to spend a night or more there, as you wish.
- Those visiting a lama, a monk or a retreater living in the vicinity .
- The dharma groups – or the groups whose activity is connected with the buddhist practice – for their training courses, seminars or meetings. These groups only need to let the Administrative Council know about their wishes regarding their schedule and programmes so as to make sure that their schedule do not overlap Guepel Ling's own schedule
(email : guepel.ling@orange.fr). The Administrative Council will obviously keep a right of control on what will be proposed by these groups in order to stay within the frame of the established references : ethical conduct, respect of the premises, of the envitonment and so forth...
Of course you don't have to stay on site for a night or more to enjoy the place; those who wish so may spend a day here with their friends and relatives. They may use the small shrine room for meditation sessions or dharma practices, for gardening and they may cook in the kitchen and use the dining room , the shower and toilets. For that, they only need to enroll in the association and make a donation in the red box down the stairs leading to the small shrine room.
Those who wish to stay one night or more, must contact Heiko or Hélène who are responsible for accommodating visitors (their details on request)
The association puts at the visitors' disposal :
- a small shrine
- a loundge
- a dining room
- a barn for large groups during the warm season
- a kitchen
- two toilets and a bathroom with a shower and a toilet
- about twelve beds and the possibility to use the small shrine as an extra.
- two car parks
- the possibility to camp on site
As Guepel Ling needs to be financially supported, the people wishing to sleep on site are requested to participate in the expenses by making a donation (we suggest €10 per night). This covers the expenses for the heating, the water, the gas, electricity and so forth.
